US metalcore band known for their speed, technical proficiency of their music and the intensity of their live shows. The band's music belongs to the subgenre of metalcore called mathcore, which uses discordant, technical riffing, complex time signatures as well as extended song structure. They’ve released three studio albums so far: "Calculating Infinity" (1999), "Miss Machine" (2004) and "Ire Works" (November 2007). The newest album was produced by Steve Evetts (Saves The Day, Earth Crisis, Sepultura) and features the drumming of Stolen Babies' Gil Sharone. Fans of metal, hardcore & futuristic progressive music won’t be disappointed!

The theatrical horror of many black metal bands is easy to ridicule, but behind these superficial impressions lies something deeply disturbing, a menacing presence perfectly evoked by Norway's Satyricon on their aptly titled album "Volcano". Never a band to reiterate the obvious, the Oslo-based two-piece of Frost (drums) and Satyr (vocals, all other instruments) has made a remarkable career out of shaping the true core of one of the most uncompromising and extreme genres in musical history. Their aim has always been to explore the musical logic behind the darkest emotions, to add a defined aural structure to the metaphysical darkness of human existence. The results stand out as landmarks of extreme metal music: the early works "Dark Medieval Times" (1993) and "The Shadowthrone" (1994) that helped create the myth of Norwegian black metal, the immensely successful "Nemesis Divina" (1996), "Rebel Extravaganza" (1999) and the unstoppable force of nature that is "Volcano" (2002). Now one of the finest bands in black metal's history returns with an ambitious new album. And if they shout "Now, Diabolical", they mean it! Inspired by the occult traditions of our cultural history, especially the strict symbolic systems devised by secret lodges and societies, Satyricon have created eight songs that radically break with many often-told truths about metal music. "Now, Diabolical" opens a new chapter not only in Satyricon's history, but in that of metal itself. A highly unusual album that should change the way black metal is perceived.

The alpha and the omega of thrash metal. With a career spanning over two decades and 14 full-length albums, Overkill has remained a constant in the metal genre it helped define. The self-proclaimed "Wrecking Crew" released a handful of albums on quintessential metal label Megaforce Records in the early '80s. As label mates with such bands as Metallica and Anthrax, Overkill became part of the birth of the East Coast thrash metal scene. Overkill has endlessly toured the globe hitting most every music venue and participated in all of the heavy European festivals. Gaining legions of metal fans wherever they travel, the band has conquered the globe, from the Far East to South America. Overkill has shared the stage with metal icons new and old. Overkill unleashed its 15th studio album, "Immortalis", on 9th October 2007. There are few names as well respected as Overkill, and with the resurgence of metal in the music word, this band is poised to return to the top. Overkill is ready to show old metal heads they still have it and to teach the new schoolers exactly how it's done.

Vader was the first death metal band from behind the Iron Curtain to succeed on the world's most important music markets. Their "Morbid Reich" demo from 1990 is considered the best selling demo tape in the history of death metal. In their career, Vader did a great number of tours, made lots of festival appearances and played gigs with top metal bands such as Bolt Thrower, Deicide, Metallica, Krisiun, Malevolent Creation, Slayer, Samael, Anathema, Testament, Marduk, Cannibal Corpse, Six Feet Under, Vital Remains, and Kreator, to mention only a few… In October 2007 Vader released a live DVD "And Blood Was Shed In Warsaw". DVD features the footage from the band's fantastic concert at Stodola Club in February 2007, which was the final stop of the tour promoting their latest album "Impressions in Blood". You can expect ca. 100 min. of brutal, fast, uncompromising death metal! Year 2008 marks the 25th anniversary of Vader's existence. Expect some special events & releases!

Some bands make their mark and quickly fizzle out. Immolation is not one of those bands. Originally called Rigor Mortis, the band was unexpectedly born amidst the relatively peaceful environs of Yonkers, New York. Little did the city know a small, but mighty group of restless teens would emerge from its epicenter to help create the most brutal sound the world would ever hear. The group quickly changed their name before releasing their second demo in 1988. Demo 1 caught the eye of Roadrunner Records, with whom they released one of the best debut albums in metal history, "Dawn of Possession". The album was rife with the technical, dual-guitar riffing that has come to define the band's sound and separate Immolation from its followers. Since the release of their debut, Immolation has made an organic move toward incorporating more groove while retaining complex arrangements, down-tuned guitar duels and hellish vocals. Improving on the foundation of technical, neck-snapping death metal that they helped build beginning in the late 1980s, Immolation lumber forth with the seventh chapter in their legendary career, "Shadows in the Light". The group recorded their latest collection of deathly dirges within the hallowed halls of Millbrook Sound Studios, once home to such diverse acts as Anthrax, Zakk Wylde and Twisted Sister. With tracks like "Deliverer of Evil," "Lying with Demons" and "Whispering Death," listeners can expect no less than top form. Long known for its ability to develop and grow with each release, Immolation more than lives up to its reputation as death metal's most reliable band, having never released anything close to mediocre in their storied career. Not only is "Shadows in the Light" a perfect example of the group's continued growth, but it may also be their most complete sounding album ever with 10 unique, hard-hitting tracks.

Back in the 80’s they were one of the biggest European thrash sensations on the scene characterized by intense, energetic riffing and unique vocals of Flemming Ronsdorf, somewhat reminiscent of Slayer and Megadeth from the same era. The band was formed in 1982 in Taastrup, in the suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. The band members were: guitarists Jorgen Sandau and Michael Stützer, bassist Morten Stützer, drummer Carsten Nielsen and singer Carsten Lohmann. The band won a worldwide acclaim even before their first album, thanks to some well-distributed demos (repackaged and re-released later as Deadly Relics). Their debut album "Fear of Tomorrow" and the follow-up "Terror Squad" have gained a legendary status, becoming some of the most thrilling thrash releases of the late 80’s period. Their first album for Roadrunner, "By Inheritance", repeated the impressive success of the previous LPs. Flemming Rasmussen finally crafted a more than competitive sound for the band which was often compared with Metallica's "Master Of Puppets". The Bay Area touch is still there in terms of the riffing. There are no weak moments on this record! Unfortunately, after that Artillery was put on hold for almost 9 years, to ultimately return in 1999 with another amazing release, "B.A.C.K." with the unique vocals of Ronsdorf and thrash riffing that were trademarks of the band in their prime still intact. Today, the band still remains active, although there are no signs of a new recorded material yet. During the wait, the fans are granted a unique chance to rediscover the band’s whole discography in one exclusive box set which was released by Metal Mind Productions in August 2007. Special collector’s edition of the "Through The Years" contains 4 Artillery albums plus 32 page booklet.

Flotsam and Jetsam is a thrash metal band formed in Phoenix, Arizona in 1983. Their debut album "Doomsday for the Deceiver" is still considered by many as a milestone in the history of genre. The record released in 1986 propelled original bass player Jason Newstead to international superstardom as a member of Metallica. Not to be outdone, Flotsam then followed up with what some consider to be the most important thrash record of all time, "No Place For Disgrace". Then it was onward and upward to MCA records for 3 albums that allowed the band to grow musically while never losing the integrity their fans had come to expect. After their contract was up at MCA, the first and most welcome home for the band, Metal Blade Records, invited Flotsam and Jetsam to rejoin their roster and help carry the banner of true metal tradition proudly through the dark days of the rise of "Nu Metal". The records "High", and "Unnatural Selection" settled the nerves of those fans that wondered what direction the band might in this new landscape. "My God", produced by the illustrious Bill Metoyer, is already being hailed as the best, heaviest effort of the band in years. The bands appearance on the Metalmania Festival will be as part of their European tour promoting bands future, untitled yet album. As the drummer, Craig Nielsen, announce, the new album will be the offering in the Flotsam and Jetsam discography.

There is a scent of indefatigable fighting around Marduk. For over ten years this outstanding band has embodied values extremely rare, always strongly determined to go their own way, refusing to adjust, always fighting to stay on top and never backing down. The band was formed in 1990 by Morgan who desired to create the most brutal and blasphemous metal act ever. The band immediately started rehearsing as maniacs and early 1991 the hard work was bearing fruit, resulting in the infamous three track demo tape "Fuck Me Jesus". Because of the innovativeness and the devastatingly violent and demonic approach Marduk immediately gained a heavy cult reputation, something that clearly showed at the bands early stage performances. The groundbreaking classic debut album "Dark Endless" saw the light of day in December 1992, and showed the world that Marduk was a force to be reckoned with. Immediately recognized for their bright potential the band signed with Osmose productions and only 3 months after the release of "Dark Endless" the band ventured into the studio again to begin the recording of what would become "Those of the Unlight" which was released during fall time of 1993. With two albums out on the market and live experience from numerous gigs it was really time to get this warmachine out on the open road for a full tour. Together with Norwegian labelmates Immortal the band did a full tour under the moniker "Son’s of Northern Darkness". After getting back home the work was immediately started up in writing the successor to "Those…". The result Marduk presented this time raised the band to high praise and shocked an entire generation, which had adapted to the sound of the Scandinavian Black Metal scene which Marduk and a few more had set the standards for.Their tenth full-length album entitled "Rom 5:12"was unleashed in April 2007 and is hailed as the bands greatest album up to date by most of the media and fans alike. The Triumph of Death continues.

One of the most important bands on the metal music scene in Ireland. The origins of the band go back to the late 80's although you could say the band began to forge their sound and adopt a more serious attitude to their music in 1991. One demo was recorded back in 1993 and, since then, they have released 6 studio albums. The sound of Primordial evolved from the mixture of raw thrash and death metal, through more melodic metal with the addition of elements distinctive of celtic folk, to uncompromising, extremely heavy metal. Primordial have toured Europe several times with bands like Immortal, Moonsorrow, Thyrfing, Ancient Rites, Rotting Christ, Enthroned and Mourning Beloveth among others. They also made an appearance at the Heathen Crusade among others. Late November 2007 saw the premiere of their 6th album entitled "To the Nameless Dead". The album got very enthusiastic reviews and was acclaimed "The album Of The Month" by many metal music magazines around Europe!

An underdog of this edition of the Metalmania Festival. This Russian band was formed in 2002 and, since then, released two full-length studio albums: "Lost In The Faith" (2005) and "Night Hunt" (2007). They are associated mainly with the gothic metal scene, which resulted in performing as a support for the legendary bands: Samael and Tiamat.

American hardcore at its best! Poison the Well released their first album "Distance Only Makes The Heart Grow Fonder" in 1998. The album won them the attention of Trustkill Records, who signed a multi-album deal with them. The first fruit of that deal, the album "The Opposite of December... A Season Of Separation", was released in 1999. To this day, Guitar World magazine dubs this album as one of the greatest hardcore albums of all times. "The Opposite of December..." caused a stir in the music scene and was starting to win the band the attention of some Major labels. In the end, they signed a record deal with Atlantic Records. Although the band experienced success being signed to a major label, Poison the Well announced, in June 2006, that they parted ways with Atlantic after only one album because of "creative differences". In November 2006, Poison the Well officially joined powerhouse independent label Ferret Music. Poison the Well's first album for Ferret Music, "Versions", was released in April 2007.

Stolen Babies, the US band, will headline the side stage of the Festival!

The festival starts at 9.30 am on the side stage with the performances of two Polish acts: Carrion and Pandemonium. They will be followed by the first international act, Wrust, an extreme metal band from Botswana. The trio plays energetic, extreme metal and has recently released an 8 track album "Soulless Machine". Fans of the thrash and death metal mix will be delighted with the show of the Dutch band Izegrim. The next band on the side stage bill is the Dutch Non-Divine. A great blend of melodic rock and metal plus the group's unique image guarantees lots of fun. Demonical will take over the stage with their mission to return to the death metal roots. They will surely deliver a sheer dose of darkness and brutality!  German metal scene will be represented by a young but very impressive band Drone, winner of the Wacken Metal Battle 2006. Their modern sound constitutes a mix of metal, rock, thrash metal and even elements typical for jazz! They play very fast, heavy and loud. The next band to perform on the side stage will be a treat for the fans of Megadeth, Anthrax, Testament, Exodus or Death Angel.  Mortal Sin grew out of the western suburbs of Sydney (Australia) in the mid 80's and by 1987 had become the country's most important extreme metal act. The band rose to the top of the scene with their Metallica inspired debut "Mayhemic Destruction”, which won them an international record deal. In 2005 Mortal Sin were inducted into the Hall Of Fame at the Metal for the Brain & Kerrang Australian heavy metal awards.

October File will be another star of the side stage of the festival. This hard core/punk band from UK is often compared with Killing Joke, Big Black and Boy Sets Fire. Their last album "Holy Armour From The Jaws Of God”, featuring Jaz Coleman from Killing Joke doing guest vocals, received a bunch of enthusiastic reviews around the world including the one from the British Metal Hammer: “A sustained, evangelical tirade against the evils of the world, 'Holy Armour...' combines dark and muscular post-punk menace with the precise violence of extreme metal to create an exhilarating blast of white knuckle noise and righteous indignation. British rock hasn't sounded this furious or this potent in decades."

Evile is the last band to perform before the headliner takes over the side stage. Evile are an original thrash metal outfit from Huddersfield in the UK. In October of 2006 Evile signed to the legendary Earache Records, label home of such Metal legends as Morbid Angel, Napalm Death, Municipal Waste and Carcass. With every member contributing to every aspect of the band, they have a uniqueness and strength that gives them a cutting edge, influenced by bands such as Sepultura, Exodus, Metallica, Annihilator and Slayer to name but a few. These young thrashers have created something that the metal world is crying out for. Despite being un-signed at the time, Evile were hand-picked to headline the second stage of Bloodstock Open Air 06, and also to open the main stage of Manchester's own Damnation Festival. With the debut album "Enter the Grave" the band is sure to make an impact on the world of thrash metal. In February 2008 Evile supports Megadeth on their Gigantour 2008!!!

The headliner slot of the side stage of the Metalmania Festival 2008 belongs to the US band Stolen Babies. This will surely be the most intriguing band during this year’s edition of the fest. Stolen Babies are an avant-garde metal band with significant influences from dark cabaret. Among the band's many musical influences are groups such as Oingo Boingo, Mr. Bungle and Fishbone. Stolen Babies are best known for their on-stage theatrics and energetic performances, filled with props and Gorey-esque backdrops, all made by the various members. The band's debut full-length album “There Be Squabbles Ahead” was released early in 2006 through the band's website, but was re-released on October 3rd 2006 following the band's signing with The End Records. It's nearly impossible to talk about Stolen Babies without mentioning their ongoing collaboration with graphic novelist extraordinaire Crab Scrambly. His artwork has graced their early releases, website and merch. Stolen Babies supported Lacuna Coil on Revolver’s The Hottest Chicks in Metal Tour 2007 featuring female-fronted metal bands. In February the band will support Dillinger Escape Plan… And now you can see the phenomenon of the band yourself, during the Metalmania Festival 2008!
